The listener is stored on your Platform server directly and can be accessed by connecting to its IP address and downloading it.
1. Open Web Browser
2. Enter Hostname or IP address for Server/MediaHub
3. Download and Install the Listener
The Platform client listener version for your workstation is downloaded directly from your server and is not available on the internet or ProMAX's website. This allows us to ensure that the version of the listener software that you download is compatible with the software that runs on your server. When you update your server to a new version, the listener software is updated as well and you may be prompted to update the listener software on your workstation to match it. See the video below for a quick explanation on how to locate and download your listener software.
If you have any issues installing the Listener software, including getting security messages that prevent installation, see below for troubleshooting information.
Mac Workstations
On a Mac, you may be stopped from installing the Listener with an error that states "...can't be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software."
You can proceed past this screen by doing the following:
- Right click on the "Downloads" icon on your dock, select "Open Downloads"
- Right click on the PlatformClientMonitorMac.pkg item and select "Open with > Installer (Default)"
- The package will open and you will be presented with a message similar to the original Apple security warning, however it will now contain an option to continue with the installation.
- Depending on your security settings you may also see this message on newer versions of Mac OS.
To allow the Listener to open, you will need to go to System Settings, Privacy and Security, then scroll to the bottom of the page and look for "PlatformClientMonitorMac.pkg" was blocked to protect your Mac. Click on the Open Anyway button. You may need to open the Listener Installer file again to proceed, but you should now be able to bypass the alert.
PC Workstations
Depending on your Windows OS version and settings, you might get stopped by microsoft Smartscreen when trying to install the Platform Listener. To continue the installation, choose "More Info".
You can then choose "Run Anyway" to install the Platform Listener software on your workstation.
