How Do I Set a Hard Drive to Be a Hot Spare? (Areca)

1. Log into the Areca Raid Controller.  Steps can be found here.

2. Click on RAID Set Functions and then Create Hot Spare.

3. If a new drive had been inserted correctly, then an option to select that drive as a hot spare should appear.  Select the drive, assign it to the raid set and then confirm the drive to be the hot spare to initiate the rebuild.
