      What is the difference between Backup vs. Archive?

      This is in regards to LTO and Cloud.

      A Backup is a straight backup.  It will back up files but will retain data on the storage.  There is an option to perform checksums in which the data on storage and data written to tape are checked if it fully made it to tape.

      An Archive the data is backed up to tape with checksums defaulted.  If the checksum passes, it will delete the data off the storage as it verifies that the data made it to tape.
